CHOOSING YOUR SHARPENING
RADIO CHANNEL
The groove radius is simply how deep the groove is that is cut into the skate blade when sharpening it. The deeper the cut, the more grip the blade will have on the ice. The shallower the cut, the more glide the blade will have on the ice. A smaller radius ring (5/16", 3/8", 7/16") will cut deeper into the blade creating more bite, while a larger radius ring (1-1/8", 1", 7/8") will not cut as deep, creating more glide.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT CHANNEL
Choosing the right groove is a matter of personal preference, whether you want more grip or more glide. The most common groove radius is ½”. We recommend ½” for most young players (less body weight) and then increasing the radius (9/16”, 5/8”) as the player grows.
As always at MADHOCKEY we will help you choose when you visit us to get your sharpening done.

No, only skates with one-piece blade support.
Multi-piece support systems are not compatible with our SPARX sharpeners. These types of blades are the ones you will find on high-end professional skates. As a general rule, they are not mounted on entry-level or mid-range boots.
As a general rule, skates purchased online do not come sharpened.
If you want them delivered sharpened, you can leave it written in the order notes or contact us. Please note that the order may take 24 hours to complete the work before shipping.
Likewise, once the skates have been sharpened, they cannot be returned as they are considered a personalized order from that moment on.
If you have doubts about the size or fit, we recommend not sharpening them so as not to lose your right of return.
